Spring officially starts March 20th at 9:15 in the morning, but you wouldn’t know it by reading the weather forecast.

A storm that was supposed to hit our region on Tuesday was delayed till Wednesday spiking fears of lingering longer with possible flash floods in the recent burn areas throughout Southern California.
A flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service and will remain active for next the 3 days. The flash flood watch will remain in effect from Wednesday evening through late Thursday night and will continue for:
- The recent burn areas of Los Angeles county.
- From Wednesday evening through late Thursday night * Rainfall rates up to 0.6 inches per hour are possible late Wednesday evening with rates possibly increasing to 0.75 inches per hour or higher at times Thursday.
- Rainfall of this intensity can produce dangerous mud and debris flows near recent burn areas.
As for spring, it will officially start on March 20 (Spring Equinox) and will end on June 21. Spring Equinox (also known as March equinox or vernal equinox) means the length of day and night is nearly equal in all parts of the world, where the sun only rises due east and sets due west all over mother earth.
In the meantime, we still have to wait a bit longer to officially say goodbye to winter.
