South Pasadena voters will see only one contested race. On November 3, 2026, only the City Council District 4 Race will appear on the general municipal election ballot.
By Margaret Prietto
Incumbent Michael Cacciotti will face Finance Commission Chair Nevin Stanton-Trehan for the District 4 seat. Cacciotti has served on the South Pasadena City Council since December 2001, nearly 25 years. Stanton-Trehan is the father of two Marengo Elementary School students and an active community volunteer.
Cacciotti filed nomination papers on August 4 and qualified for the ballot that same day. Stanton-Trehan filed on July 29 and qualified the following day.
The District 5 City Council and city treasurer elections were canceled. Only one candidate filed for each office. Janet Braun was the sole candidate for District 5, while incumbent City Treasurer Zhen Tao was the only candidate for treasurer. Both candidates filed on July 29 and qualified that same day.
The elections were canceled under Resolution No. 8024, adopted by the City Council on August 19, 2026. The resolution allows an election to be canceled when the number of candidates who file does not exceed the number of offices to be filled.
