The City of South Pasadena has announced that the upcoming Sustainability Fair: Plant Swap & Garden Tour has been rescheduled to May 2, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, citing expected rain over the original weekend. The event will still take place at Arroyo Seco Woodland & Wildlife Park (“Nature Park”), located at 100 Pasadena Avenue.

      By News Desk

Hosted in partnership with South Pasadena Beautiful and Friends of South Pasadena Nature Park, the Sustainability Fair is a free, family-friendly celebration of environmental stewardship and sustainable living. Organizers describe it as an interactive community gathering designed to educate and inspire residents of all ages.

      Activities and Highlights

Attendees can look forward to a wide range of hands-on activities and educational opportunities, including:

      • Plant Swap: Guests are invited to bring a labeled, potted plant—no cuttings—to exchange for native and low-water varieties.
      • Bike Valet: Active South Pas will offer secure bicycle parking for those who choose to ride to the event.
      • Environmental Programs: City staff will share information on water conservation rebates, organics recycling, the leaf blower ban, and other sustainability initiatives.
      • Garden Tour: Visitors can explore South Pasadena’s superbloom and newly established micro-forest, with tours scheduled for 1:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Children can also enjoy a Story Path and Nature Scavenger Hunt.
      • Garden Design Workshop: A session on water-wise landscaping and rain garden design will run from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., facilitated by the Metropolitan Water District and Green Media Studio.
      • 3-Stream Waste Sorting Workshop: Athens Services coordinators will guide attendees through the city’s new trash-sorting system at 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
      • Environmental Organization Booths: Local groups and utilities will offer resources and tips for sustainable living.

      Event Access and Parking

Visitors may enter the Nature Park from two access points:

      • Lower Entrance: Located past the Arroyo Seco Golf Course driving range via the paved shared-use path at the west end of Lohman Lane. Limited street parking is available, and this entrance is recommended for those using the bike valet.
      • Upper Entrance: Situated on the 100 block of Pasadena Avenue, east of the York Boulevard Bridge. Street parking is available nearby, though attendees should be aware that this route requires descending a set of winding stairs.
