On Thursday, May 2, 2024, at approximately 7:14 am, South Pasadena Police Officers responded to a reported possible robbery in progress in the 1400 Block of Huntington Drive.

Upon arrival, officers detained forty-four-year-old Anthony Johnson, who was found to be armed with a box cutter.
Johnson had entered a grocery store and shoplifted several items. Johnson brandished the box cutter when employees attempted to retrieve the items, and advanced toward them.
Johnson was apprehended and arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and shoplifting. He has since been booked and is currently being held at the Los Angeles County Men’s Central Jail, awaiting arraignment.
