Under California law, students who are 16 or 17 may preregister to vote, while those who are 18 or older may register.
During lunch, student volunteers from Oliver Valcorza’s AP Government classes, Alisia Engelhard’s civics classes and Casey Shotwell’s Associated Student Body class helped their peers complete the preregistration and registration processes. The effort was designed to ensure that students are prepared to make their voices heard in upcoming elections.
The student volunteers also worked with The Civics Center, which provided promotional materials and support for the weeklong drive.
