South Pasadena’s community spirit will be in full swing this Father’s Day weekend as the South Pasadena Tournament of Roses (SPTOR) invites residents to its Annual Golf Tournament on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Arroyo Seco Golf Course.

      By Melanie Hooks

The event continues a long-standing local tradition rooted in craftsmanship, creativity, and inclusivity—values that define the city’s self-built Rose Parade float.

      Community Tradition Tees Off Again

Registration is now open for the tournament, which serves as a major fundraiser for South Pasadena’s all‑volunteer float. Each year, people of all ages and skill levels help build and decorate the city’s entry for the Rose Parade, and the golf tournament mirrors that same welcoming spirit by encouraging golfers of all backgrounds to participate.

Proudly sponsored by Shaw, Moses, Mendenhall Insurance, the event raises essential funds for construction materials and natural décor used on the float.

      Tournament Details

The tournament will take place at the scenic 18‑hole, par‑3 Arroyo Seco Golf Course at 1055 Lohman Lane.

      • Check‑in: 7:00 am
      • Shotgun start: 8:00 am

After the round, players are invited to enjoy a celebratory lunch, raffle, and awards ceremony. Prizes will be given to the top two teams, along with awards for the male and female golfers closest to the pin.

The best‑ball scramble format ensures a fun, accessible day on the course for both seasoned golfers and beginners. Participants can also take a shot at a $10,000 hole‑in‑one challenge on Hole #17, sponsored by Mamma’s Brick Oven Pizza & Pasta.

      Registration and Sponsorship

Advance registration is $90 per player or $300 for a foursome. Day‑of registration is $100 per player. Local businesses can also support the event through tee signs and sponsorship opportunities.

All are welcome to join the fun and support South Pasadena’s oldest community tradition. Registration is available at sptor.org, and additional information is available by contacting Golf Chairman Alan Vlacich at avlacich@gmail.com or (626) 233‑5570.
