Before Friday night’s varsity football matchup, South Pasadena High School paused to remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.

      By News Desk

Players, fans and officials observed a moment of silence, followed by a tribute to local first responders, who were thanked for their service and joined team captains for the pregame coin toss.

The Tigers then faced longtime rival La Cañada High School in a game that went down to the final minute. South Pasadena came up just short, falling to the Spartans, 29-22.

SPHS returns to action Friday, Sept. 18, on the road against Franklin High School.
