Attention South Pasadena gardeners and water efficient enthusiasts, join the City of South Pasadena for its Fall Compost & Mulch giveaway.

      By News Desk

Don’t miss the chance to make the most of your fall garden with this free top-quality compost and mulch, a great way to conserve water, combat climate change, and improve plant health.

Compost (donated by Athens Services) is a mixture of decayed organic material, including food waste, and is used for enriching soil. Athens compost is certified organic under the USDA National Organic Program.

Mulch (donated by West Coast Arborist) is chipped tree trimmings or bark groundcover. It works as an insulator, maintaining the temperature of soil and roots to reduce evaporation and the formation of weeds.

      Important Reminders

      • Bring a sturdy container and shovel (compost and mulch will not be supplied in plastic bags or cardboard boxes)
      • Self serve, limited to two 35 gallon containers per household
      • For South Pasadena residents only, bring proof of residence (ID or utility bill)
