South Pasadena City Manager Receives Credentialed Manager Designation

South Pasadena City Manager, Arminé Chaparyan, has received the Credentialed Manager designation from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA).

Chaparyan is among 1,300 local government management professionals currently credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program.

ICMA’s mission is to advance professional local government through leadership, management, innovation, and ethics.The organization’s 13,000 members in 27 countries also include educators, students, and other local government employees.

To receive the ICMA credential, a person must have significant experience as a senior management executive in local government, have earned a degree in public administration or a related field, and demonstrated a commitment to high standards of integrity and to lifelong learning and professional development.

Chaparyan is qualified by over 20 years of professional local government experience, including serving in the roles of Community Development Director and Assistant City Manager in San Gabriel Valley cities. She has led the City of South Pasadena for nearly three years, and has made significant strides in rebuilding the agency, professionalizing services to the community, establishing and accomplishing strategic plan priorities, and regional leadership.
