The South Pasadena City Council convened for both a special and regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, December 17, in the City Council Chambers at 1424 Mission Street. The special meeting, focused on the annual city council reorganization, featured the installation of the city’s leadership for the upcoming year.

Sheila Rossi was sworn in as the new Mayor of South Pasadena for 2026. Alongside her, Omari Ferguson was appointed Mayor Pro Tem.
The meeting also included a moment of recognition for outgoing Mayor Janet Braun, who was thanked for her dedicated leadership and service to the South Pasadena community over the past year. Braun’s contributions were warmly acknowledged by both the council and attendees.
Following the official meeting, a reception with light refreshments was held in the City Hall courtyard, providing an opportunity for community members and city officials to celebrate the leadership transition and discuss the exciting year ahead.
