Crowell Public Library in San Marino is spotlighting a small stitch with a meaningful impact through an upcoming hands-on workshop focused on the art of visible mending.
By Melanie Hooks
The program introduces participants to the elegance of Sashiko, a traditional Japanese stitching technique whose name translates to “little stabs.” Characterized by its simple, single-line style, Sashiko creates striking geometric patterns while reinforcing fabric, making it ideal for patching holes or adding decorative detail to worn garments.
Designed for beginners, the class requires no prior sewing experience. All techniques will be demonstrated, allowing attendees to learn the basics in an accessible, guided setting.
The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Registration is required to attend.
