On March 28, 2023, at about 9:45 am, Sierra Madre Police Officers responded to the 100 block of S. Michillinda Avenue, regarding a male suspect impersonating a utility worker.

The suspect knocked on a Sierra Madre resident’s door, saying that he was seeking access to the rear yard for purposes of checking utility lines. His intent was to distract the homeowner. A second suspect is believed to have been involved.
On occasion, suspects have been known to be aggressive towards victims. The Sierra Madre Police Department recommends not answering the door if you do not recognize the person on the other side. Verify the identity of the person by calling the company they claim to represent, and be cautious of anyone trying to coax you out of your home. If a utility worker or contractor knocks on your door and you are apprehensive, please call 9-1-1 or the non-emergency Sierra Madre Police Department line at 626-355-1414.
