For the second year in a row, A PUSD Sierra Madre School has been selected for the prestigious 2024 California Distinguished School Program.

Sierra Madre Middle School is among 293 exceptional middle and high schools to receive the award.
Sierra Madre Middle School fosters academic excellence and creative thinking in partnership with families and the community. It is home to PUSD’s middle school Mandarin Dual Immersion program, accelerated Math Academy, and offers a robust visual and performing arts. The California Distinguished Schools Award celebrates exceptional schools, districts, teachers, and classified employees for their innovation, talent, and success in supporting students.
“California Distinguished Schools represent examples of not just excellent teaching, learning, and collaboration, but also highly successful, data-driven school efforts ranging from professional development for educators to mental health and social-emotional wellness strategies to address the needs of students and families,” stated State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond.
“We are proud of our staff and students for this accomplishment. Please join me in celebrating PUSD students and staff for their achieving this prestigious State recognition and honor,” said PUSD Interim Superintendent Dr. Elizabeth Blanco.
