On the night of Oct 26, 2023, a UHaul crashed into the gate outside the Sierra Madre Police Station.
By Briony James
Unusual, to be sure, but what was even more unusual is that the UHaul was loaded with some 2,000 pounds of vacuumed-packaged marijuana.
The driver had been shot in nearby Temple City and drove from that site with a passenger, who was unharmed, to Sierra Madre before he crashed. The driver and passenger have been placed under arrest for possession of narcotics. The driver was treated in a local hospital for his wounds. No cause of the shooting was given, but it is assumed to have been an attempted robbery.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Deputies from Temple Station handled the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
