The Sierra Madre Library is turning the page to an exciting new chapter, as a major 5,000-square-foot expansion begins to take shape.

Designed with the community in mind, the new space will include modern amenities such as a multipurpose meeting room, a hands-on makerspace, quiet study areas, expanded book collections, and a cozy reading balcony.
Families can look forward to a spacious new Children’s Room, and visitors will enjoy the convenience of a new entrance on Level 0, offering direct access from the parking lot.
The expansion, slated to open in June 2026, marks a significant milestone for the historic library and the community it serves. But bringing the space to life with furnishings, technology, and equipment requires strong community support. So far, $1 million of the $1.5 million goal has been raised by the Sierra Madre Library Foundation and The Friends of the Sierra Madre Library.
“Public libraries hold more than books,” said Sierra Madre Public Library City Librarian Leila Regan. “Public libraries hold space for everyone and anyone who needs a place to go. This renovation offers more than added space, it offers something new for everyone from quiet reading corners to a thriving teen room, from archival research space to a makerspace. The renovated library will have something for everyone.”
Community members are invited to be a part of the transformation. Donations can be made at SierraMadreLibraryFoundation.org.
