Sierra Madre and Arcadia New Bike Lanes

Sierra Madre and Arcadia are the recent recipients of new bike lanes in the San Gabriel Valley.

In Sierra Madre, bike lanes were painted on Sierra Madre Boulevard between Lima Street and Sunnyside Avenue and on South Baldwin Avenue from West Orange Grove Avenue to Suffolk Avenue. The new 0.3-mile Baldwin Avenue bike lanes connect to bike lanes further south on the street between Orange Grove and Foothill Blvd, making the route roughly 0.7 miles of bike infrastructure. The lane on the west side of Baldwin Ave. connects with Sierra Madre Blvd. The lane on the east side, seemingly an unfinished project, ends one block south of Sierra Madre Blvd.

Arcadia added 3.6 miles of bike lanes on Huntington Drive and roughly 2 miles on First Avenue/Highland Oak Drive. Huntington drive is a wide street with a vast amount of vehicle traffic. The potential problems of bike lanes on such a busy street are being addressed. With more safety precautions to come, it is said that the remaining work will be completed soon.
