San Gabriel Police Department’s Communication Center received many calls about someone shooting a gun in the area of Del Mar High School (312 S. Del Mar Ave., San Gabriel, CA 91776) around 2:00 pm on Monday, August 19.

      By News Desk

The person involved in the shooting was last seen fleeing the area on foot. San Gabriel Police Officers arrived within three minutes of the first call. Officers were not able to locate any victims but found evidence of a shooting.

Although adjacent to the school grounds, there is no evidence that the shooting occurred on school property. Due to the nature of the call, outside law enforcement and fire departments responded to the area.

The San Gabriel Police Department is working with the San Gabriel Unified School District and this collective effort is meant to ensure all students’ and staff members’ safety. The San Gabriel Police Department and San Gabriel Unified School District are collaborating efforts to identify the person(s) responsible for this shooting.

Parents, students, and staff can expect to see a heavier police presence around local school campuses. There is no known immediate threat to any other school campuses or students.

Anyone with information regarding this shooting is encouraged to contact Detective C. Lefay at (626) 308-2838.
