In an era of warming seas and increasingly severe storms, even the most dedicated environmental advocate can feel isolated and need a boost. Enter the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) Clean Air & Water Fair, bringing together community, resources, and creativity.
By Melanie Hooks
The fair will bring together the best of our local community resources for everyone to learn from and enjoy on October 10, from 9:00 am to noon, at ActiveSGV headquarters at the Jeff Seymour Family Center, 10900 Mulhall St., El Monte.
Community members and local organizations will focus on clean air and water, climate resilience, and community action in the San Gabriel Valley. ActiveSGV staff and partner organizations will connect with residents and share resources for creating healthier, more sustainable communities.
ActiveSGV’s booths will highlight its wide range of programs, including its bike-share program, schoolyard-greening initiatives, urban forestry efforts, food-justice programs, and partnerships with local cities to improve active transportation, expand urban greening, and support environmental sustainability.
The festival will include scheduled and drop-in activities that encourage participants to take action. Community members can volunteer in a tree planting at the site, participate in Learn to Bike classes, attend a flat-tire repair workshop, exchange produce at the Crop Swap, enjoy live music from local performers, and take part in family-friendly games and activities.
The event is free and open to all.
Celebrate California Clean Air Day and leave feeling empowered with practical skills and resources to reduce emissions, improve air quality, and make healthier transportation and environmental choices in everyday life.
