Business & Residential Solar Guides from City of Pasadena
Pasadena residents will have an opportunity to explore the future of local energy as Pasadena Water and Power (PWP), PASADENA 100, and community volunteers host an informative solar and battery systems event showcasing how homes and businesses can generate and store their own clean power.

The event will take place Saturday, July 11, from 10:00 am to noon, bringing together District 3 City Councilmember Justin Jones, Pasadena Water and Power representatives, PASADENA 100 members, and student volunteers for a hands-on look at rooftop solar energy and battery storage. Attendees will gather at 1288 North Garfield Avenue in Pasadena before visiting nearby solar installations within walking distance.
The event builds on the success of the Solar Homes Tour and Information Session previously held in Council Districts 6 and 7, continuing efforts to help Pasadena residents better understand the benefits of renewable energy and energy storage.
In 2023, the Pasadena City Council unanimously committed to achieving 100% clean, renewable, and reliable power by the end of 2030. A Pasadena Water and Power study identified privately owned solar energy systems and battery storage as key components of the city’s three-pronged strategy for reaching that goal.
“Solar energy is not just about powering individual homes — it is an important part of Pasadena’s broader clean energy future,” organizers said. Through this partnership, PWP and PASADENA 100 are working to educate residents about how rooftop solar and battery systems can benefit both property owners and the broader community.
During the event, visitors will tour homes generating electricity from the sun, learn about the advantages of producing and storing their own energy, and hear directly from solar system owners about their experiences. A PWP representative will provide information about available rebates, programs, and pricing, while PASADENA 100 members and student volunteers from Polytechnic School’s Sustainability Club will guide attendees and answer questions.
Councilmember Justin Jones will also share remarks from the City Council regarding Pasadena’s renewable energy goals.
PASADENA 100 is a coalition of local nonprofit and nonpartisan organizations and individuals advocating for Pasadena’s transition away from electricity generated through fossil fuels, including coal, natural gas, and oil.
The event aims to make rooftop solar more accessible by helping residents understand how clean energy systems can be practical, affordable, and beneficial, while demonstrating how local energy choices can help shape Pasadena’s clean energy future.
