As the March 5th California Primary results continue to be processed, Alhambra Vice Mayor Sasha Renée Pérez leads the vote count among Democratic candidates and is poised to move on to the November general election.

Vice Mayor Pérez will face Republican Elizabeth Wong Ahlers in the November general election. State Senate District 25 has 622,305 registered voters, with registered Democrats making up nearly double the number of registered Republicans.
“There are still hundreds of thousands of ballots left to count, but we believe that when all the votes are counted, we will be the only Democratic candidate advancing to the general election. We overcame tremendous odds. A self-funded multi-millionaire who launched a barrage of negative attacks outspent us more than 3 to 1. These results show that even with nearly $3 million spent against us, democracy is not for sale. I am grateful to everyone who contributed to our grassroots campaign, spent their weekends knocking on doors or making phone calls, helping us spread our message of protecting reproductive rights, taking climate action, and delivering measurable results on homelessness. I want to thank my fellow Democratic candidates for stepping up for our community and sharing their vision for our collective future. I look forward to continuing to build on the momentum our campaign all the way through November,” stated Vice Mayor Pérez.
Pérez assembled a diverse coalition of support from grassroots organizations, labor unions, environmental groups, reproductive rights advocates, and regional elected officials, including Congressman Adam Schiff, Congresswoman Judy Chu, and Supervisor Hilda Solis.
