Residents of San Marino will have the opportunity to dispose of sensitive documents and pick up free compost at an upcoming community event hosted by Valley Vista Services.
By News Desk
The Compost Giveaway and Document Shredding event will take place on Saturday, March 28, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Participants must provide proof of residency, such as a postcard, identification card, or utility bill.
The compost giveaway will be held at Lacy Park in the St. Albans Road parking lot. Up to five bags of compost, each weighing approximately 35 pounds, will be available per household while supplies last. The event will operate as a drive-thru, and organizers note that plastic bags and personal containers will not be permitted.
Document shredding services will take place at the Stoneman Building. Households may bring up to 10 banker boxes of documents for shredding. Residents are asked to remove all staples, clips, binders, and plastic sleeves before arriving. Shredding services will be available until capacity is reached.

Do you have to live in San Marino to shred your documents? I live in Sierra Madre – May I come? I don’t have my papers in banker boxes – I don’t own banker boxes – can I bring the paper to shred in a paper bag? Please advise. Thank you!
