Growing LGBTQ+ and Family Friendly Events Mark Third Year.

      By Ari Gutierrez Arambula

The City of Monterey Park, the Alhambra Teachers Association, and the Boys and Girls Club of West San Gabriel Valley will again co-host the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) Family Pride Parade and Festival. For a spectacular third year of creating a welcoming community, members of all ages are invited to join in the fun adorned in their best rainbow attire!

The SGV Family Pride Parade and Festival will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023. The parade will line up at Mark Keppel High School, 501 E Hellman Ave. in Alhambra at 8:30 am. The parade will step off at 9:15 am, and continue down Garfield Ave to Barnes Park, at 350 S. McPherrin Ave, Monterey Park. The LGBTQ Pride Festival from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm will feature student-led poetry performances, entertainment, resources, giveaways, and more, all completely free!

This event is part of a series of LGBTQ community events presented as the San Gabriel Valley PRIDE Tour 2023 by the San Gabriel Valley Pride Roundtable, a collaborative formed by the SGV LGBTQ+ Center, in partnership with City Councilmembers, Mayors, and Community Leaders. For more information on the Parade and Festival, contact the City of Monterey Park, Recreation & Community Services Department at recreation@montereypark.ca.gov or 626-307-1388.
