The San Gabriel Unified School District Governing Board has appointed Ross Perry as interim superintendent, effective immediately following action taken at its June 23, 2026, meeting.

Ross Perry currently serves as the district’s assistant superintendent of human resources. He will lead the district while Superintendent Jim Symonds is on medical leave through Nov. 30, 2026.
The Governing Board said Perry’s appointment is intended to ensure continuity in leadership and district operations during the superintendent’s absence. Board members expressed confidence that his familiarity with the district, collaborative leadership style, and commitment to educational excellence will provide stability while supporting continued progress throughout the interim period.
District officials said San Gabriel Unified remains committed to serving its students, families, staff, and the broader community while maintaining the high level of service residents expect.
