The City of San Gabriel is inviting residents to help shape the future of Smith Park by participating in a series of public meetings this summer focused on potential park improvements.

The outreach effort comes as the city moves forward with plans to renovate the park following the award of a $500,000 grant from the Los Angeles County Regional Parks and Open Space District. The funding will support the planning and design phase of the Smith Park renovation project.
City officials are also seeking additional funding through the Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Program.
The proposed project will primarily focus on renovating the park’s pool and pool facility. Plans also include the addition of a spray pad and a picnic shelter.
Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend one or more upcoming meetings to share their priorities, ideas, and feedback on the project.
Public meetings will be held at Smith Park, located at 232 W. Broadway, on the following dates:
- June 18 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am
- June 23 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm
- July 16 from 5:45 pm to 6:45 pm
- August 1 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am
An additional meeting will be held at the San Gabriel Public Library, 500 S. Del Mar Ave., on July 11 from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
