We are Girl Scout Cadets from Troop 9351, and we are currently working on our Silver Award Project.
By Lily Mata, Kasey Ly and Jane Kang
We are working to bring awareness to Police K9’s in our San Gabriel community as well as nationally. As animal lovers, we decided this would be a good project for our Silver Award, one of the highest awards in Girl Scouts.
Police K9’s need training, health checkups, bullet proof vests and a kennel. For the last two years we sold fall products and Girl Scout cookies. Through these sales we raised $700 and donated it to the San Gabriel Police Department K9’s, Bentley and Edy. The money will be used to help pay for a new kennel for the dogs.
We will continue to oversee the project of building a kennel at the SGPD so the dogs have a place to stay while the officers are in the station. We have also invited and introduced Bentley and Edy to younger troops so their support can continue.
