The San Gabriel Fire Department is inviting the community to celebrate Fire Service Day with an open house at Fire Station 51 on May 9, 2026. The free, family‑friendly event will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and offers visitors a rare chance to explore the department’s daily operations up close.

      By News Desk

Guests will have the opportunity to meet firefighters and other first responders, tour the station, and watch live demonstrations showcasing fire suppression techniques. The department will also offer presentations on disaster preparedness, giving attendees practical insights into staying safe during emergencies.

Young visitors can look forward to climbing aboard the department’s bright red fire trucks and learning about the equipment used in emergency response. Free hotdogs and chips will be available for all attendees throughout the day.

In addition to fire department activities, the event will feature community booths staffed by the San Gabriel Police Department, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and other local organizations.

The department encourages residents, families, and anyone curious about fire service to stop by, connect with local responders, and enjoy a day of learning and community engagement.
