Rotation Theatre Company (RTC) brings a bold, contemporary energy to a literary classic this spring with Kate Hamill’s Pride and Prejudice, a vibrant reimagining of Jane Austen’s beloved novel. The production runs through May 31, 2026, at The Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks.

Founded by young artists for young artists, RTC is known for its innovative “creative rotation” model, which encourages emerging performers, directors, and producers to take on new roles with each project. Designed to expand access and opportunity, this approach blends theatre and film practices to push the boundaries of traditional stage work.
Director Abby Rowland describes the company’s vision as intentionally modern while still honoring the Regency world. “We are examining this world, not recreating it,” Rowland said. “While we honor Regency silhouettes and social architecture, subtle modern elements remind us that the pressures of class, reputation, and romantic economics are not relics, they are ongoing.”
RTC’s staging emphasizes the social gamesmanship and emotional complexity at the heart of Austen’s story, highlighting how the “game of love” continues to resonate across eras.
Performances will be held Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 pm and Sundays at 3:00 pm, with the house opening 20 minutes before showtime. Audiences can expect an evening filled with original music, family chaos, elegant balls, and—above all—love.
