Unseasonably wet and humid weather has arrived in Southern California, as moisture from the remnants of Tropical Storm Mario surges into the region.

The influx of tropical moisture has brought scattered thunderstorms, elevated humidity levels, and the rare sight of rain during what is typically a dry stretch for the Golden State.
“Welcome to Florida,” the National Weather Service office in Los Angeles quipped on social media, as forecasters warned residents to be prepared for potentially severe weather.
Although the heaviest impacts from Mario have remained limited, lingering moisture is expected to keep a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast through the weekend and into early next week.
Forecast Highlights
- Friday: Partly sunny skies, with a 20% chance of showers or thunderstorms. Highs near 85°F.
- Friday Night: Skies clearing, with lows around 62°F and light winds.
- Saturday: Sunny and calm, with highs near 86°F and mild southwest breezes.
- Sunday: A 20% chance of showers after 11:00 am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 84°F.
- Monday: Another slight chance of showers during the day and again overnight. Highs could reach 88°F.
Despite the added moisture, rainfall totals are expected to remain light, with no major flooding threats anticipated. However, residents are advised to stay alert for isolated thunderstorms, particularly in inland and elevated areas.
This unusual weather pattern is a reminder that even weakened tropical systems can still pack a punch, bringing rain, humidity, and unpredictability to an otherwise arid California.
