McDonald also touched on the following subjects:

      • K-12 schools that are already open.
      • Stay at Home Order,
      • LEARNs and International Academy at Blair.
      • Athletic conditioning and special education services.
      • Grand & Go Food Centers.

Here’s the letter in its entirety:

      Dear PUSD Community,

With the surge in COVID-19 cases and stricter Stay-at-Home orders that took effect this weekend, we want to remind you of the measures that PUSD is taking to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and employees. The safety of our students and employees continues to be our main priority.

The stricter Stay at Home Order now in place does not modify existing state guidance regarding K-12 schools; K-12 schools and programs that are already open can remain open.

      Some Programs will remain open

After careful consideration, LEARNs supervised care and the International Academy at Blair, which serve small groups of students, will remain open. These programs provide an essential service to our students and families, and serve some of our most vulnerable students who are struggling with online learning. Safety protocols inspected and approved by the Pasadena Public Health Department are being implemented.

Athletic conditioning and special education services suspended

As announced before Thanksgiving, athletic conditioning and special education services, which were set to begin in November, have been suspended until further notice.  We will continue to prepare waiver applications for TK-2nd grade and small group learning services so that they can be ready to go when COVID-19 conditions allow.
