At Tuesday’s Pasadena Unified School Board special meeting, Leadership Associates consultants presented a checklist for the board members to consider as they navigate the waters of hiring a new superintendent for the district.

In public comment at the September 25 meeting, parents and community members alike begged the board to include all of the various organizations and parent groups, especially Special Education, in its planning process, so that everyone has a voice in the selection of the new head executive.
Board consensus was achieved in deciding on a start date for the new hire, that of July 1, 2024, instead of rushing the process to select someone by January 1, 2024. Board members also voiced individually their vision of a new leader, although none of the characteristics varied from the traits the district has found in previous PUSD superintendents.
Leadership Associates will now begin the process of issuing a survey district-wide in order to collect input from all stakeholders. Colorado Boulevard will provide its readers with that survey as soon as it becomes available.
