Marshall Fundamental Varsity Soccer Team Advances to Semi-Finals.
By Jennifer Hall Lee
On February 19, the Marshall Fundamental Secondary School Girls Varsity Soccer team won the quarter-final California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section against the Palm Springs Indians. The score was 1-0.
Marshall Principal Lori Touloumian said of the game today, “I am so immensely proud of our team, they have shown tremendous mental toughness and have executed time after time. Their continued victories have been a testament to who they are as amazing scholar athletes. I look forward to cheering them on to the finals! Let’s Go Eagles!”
Superintendent Dr. Brian McDonald said, “I am very proud of our Eagles girls soccer team for their success this season. As a former soccer player and high school coach, I know what it takes to be successful on the field. Their success is a true testament to their hard work and dedication on and off the field as well as that of their coach. I look forward to them continuing to advance through the playoffs and I am confident we will be cheering for them in the finals!”
The coach, Erika Prado said:
I’m not surprised. I knew it was going to be a very good game. This team was so good. I cannot wait to win the whole thing. Cadence Fisher played amazing and Delilah Vazquez was on it helping us get out of the defensive third of the field. Her dribbling skill and defending was on it. Those two were the top and Brianna Marquez was the best making the winning goal off a direct kick.
The Marshal Fundamental Girls Varsity Soccer team now goes to the semifinals on February 23.
