The Pasadena Unified School District is marking the beginning of Latino Heritage Month with celebrations honoring the cultures and contributions of Latino and Hispanic communities.

The month holds special significance for PUSD, where Latino students, families, and staff are an important part of the district community. Schools will recognize Latino heritage through classroom lessons, family engagement, and reflection on the traditions that shape the district.
PUSD also acknowledged a difficult moment for the Muir and Pasadena High School communities. Pasadena High School has decided to complete the remainder of its football season as a junior varsity team. As a result, the annual Turkey Tussle will not take place in its traditional form this year.
The district is working to create a year-end game celebrating the homecoming tradition, which has brought students, families, and alumni together since 1947. District officials expressed gratitude to the players and families who have continued to work hard and represent their schools with courage and spirit.
Other activities planned for the fall include a community open house for the Employee Workforce Housing project, new career pathways at Twilight Adult School, and school tours across the district.
“Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support,” said Superintendent Elizabeth Blanco, Ed.D.
