PUSD Board Meeting Begins on a Grace Note

Rarely does a public meeting begin on a grace note, but such was the effect of the John Muir High School Choral Music group at the monthly meeting of the Pasadena Unified School District.

A group of some two dozen or so young men and women filled the room with sounds of song, “Keep your head to the sky, be optimistic!” and spoken word, “Music is the cut we bleed through,” lending an inspiring opening to what was an agenda-less meeting, filled mainly with proclamations.

Outstanding Administrator awards for Region 15 were given to Michael Bell, of Focus Point Academy, and Brian Stanley, of Rose City High School.

National Nutrition Month and Women’s History Month were proclaimed for the month of March.

Finally, the undefeated John Muir baseball team, prior to their showdown game with Pasadena High School, also undefeated, came to the microphone and each member present read a little bit about Jackie Robinson’s life story.

The meeting was dismissed. Outside, the setting sun gloried behind purple clouds, as if to lend visual accompaniment to the music heard earlier.
