On Monday, October 28, 2024, the Pasadena Police Department’s Homeless Outreach Psychiatric Evaluation (H.O.P.E.) Team, in collaboration with the Pasadena Public Library, hosted a Pumpkin Decorating event at the Villa Parke Branch Library.
The Books N’ Cops program which began in January of 2024 was implemented as a pilot program throughout Pasadena’s 10 public libraries. Each library hosted a program highlighting a different section of the Pasadena Police Department. Participants had the opportunity to interact with Pasadena’s finest, including detectives, motor officers, and even Pasadena Police Chief Gene Harris.
Families were invited to decorate mini pumpkins for the fall season or for Halloween at Books N’ Cops closing events.
Eager young participants used their creative talents to produce beautiful tabletop masterpieces. Today’s event marks the end of a successful ten-month Police/Library partnership.
The success of the program has prompted discussions to continue similar collaborations in 2025.
