On Thursday, January 9, the Pomona Fairplex was activated as an evacuation site due to ongoing fires in Los Angeles County.
By News Desk
The new evacuation site at the Pomona Fairplex was in collaboration with the Red Cross to help those impacted by the fires and seeking shelter, including residents from the surrounding communities in Pasadena, Monrovia, Arcadia, and others from across the County.
L.A. County Chair Pro Tem Hilda L. Solis said: “As the safety net for all those in Los Angeles County, we have a responsibility to act swiftly and efficiently to meet the needs of those we serve. That is why we have worked tirelessly to ensure we are prepared to continue receiving all residents and animals needing a place to stay. I am especially grateful to our partners over at the Pomona Fairplex, Red Cross, Suburban Water, and our community partners like Tzui Chi and countless others for coming together selflessly to support all our Los Angeles County communities and making sure our evacuation site is ready. From the Westside to the East San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles County will stand strong together.”
