The City of Sierra Madre has enough Fourth of July spirit to fill two days of festivities: a community picnic featuring live music, family activities, food, and bubble wrap fireworks on Friday evening, July 3, followed by a patriotic parade, fun run, breakfast, and family swim on Saturday, July 4.

      By Melanie Hooks

Most activities take place at Memorial Park unless otherwise noted.

      Friday, July 3

Kick off the holiday weekend with an evening of family-friendly fun:

      • 5:00 pm – 10:30 pm: Friends of Heasley Field Beer Garden
      • 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm: Nonprofit booths, kids’ activities, food trucks, Civic Club confetti eggs, and Rotary Club tri-tip
      • 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm: Live music by Groovy Lemon Pie
      • 8:00 pm: Bubble Wrap Fireworks

      Saturday, July 4

The celebration continues with a full morning of patriotic traditions:

      • 7:30 am: YMCA Firecracker 5K Pre-Parade Family Fun Run
      • 8:00 am: Women’s Club Pre-Parade Open House and continental breakfast, with live music by the Wabash Mailers (550 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.)
      • 10:00 am – 12:00 pm: Fourth of July Parade
      • 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Free Family Swim at the Sierra Madre Pool, sponsored by the YMCA

Bring the family, wave a flag or two, and enjoy one, or both, days of hometown Fourth of July fun.
