The Pasadena Education Network (PEN) will host its 14th Annual Wine & Spirits Tasting on Sunday, April 21, at the Shakespeare Villa, 171 South Grand Ave., Pasadena from 5:00 – 8:00 pm.

      By News Desk

Each year, PEN recognizes outstanding parent volunteers who make a difference in the lives of students in the Pasadena Unified School District. This year, three parent volunteers will be honored for being role models for the kind of involvement that PEN advocates. They are Maria Chavez, Victoria Knapp, and Paul Nerenberg. PEN will also recognize Jennifer Miyake-Trapp with the PEN Founders Award for her commitment to PEN’s mission to promote family participation in our public schools to benefit all students.

Guests will enjoy a variety of wines donated by Silverlake Wine; premium Italian spirits sponsored by Cocktail Cadre; food provided by Stems: Cheese, Charcuterie & Catering; and desserts compliments of Nothing Bundt Cakes. Music will be provided by the Blair Strings musicians, and there will also be a silent auction.

PEN is a network of more than 2,000 parents who support and send their children to Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) schools. The grassroots nonprofit promotes family participation in public education in Pasadena, Altadena and Sierra Madre, and believes that parent and community involvement are essential to building strong schools for all students.

Tickets for the Wine Tasting are $75; a $115 ticket includes the premium Italian Spirits Tasting. Sponsorships and opportunities to recognize the event honorees are available at penfamilies.org. For more information contact PEN at (866) 216-7334 or penfamilies.org.
