On March 3, 2026, at approximately 10:15 am, officers responded to the intersection of Fair Oaks Avenue and Hope Street following reports of an injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Paramedics from the South Pasadena Fire Department arrived at the scene and immediately began providing life-saving medical care to the pedestrian. The pedestrian, described as an elderly male, was transported to a local hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the incident. Authorities said the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation.
Hope Street between Fair Oaks Avenue and Brent Avenue was closed for several hours while officers investigated the collision. The roadway has since been reopened.
