Monterey Park Police are investigating a fatal traffic collision on South Atlantic Boulevard.

      By News Desk

On August 20, 2024, at approximately 11:01 am, the Monterey Park Police Department arrived at the 100 block of South Atlantic Boulevard, responding to a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Monterey Park Police and Fire Departments arrived on scene and located an unresponsive male pedestrian lying on the street. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a male adult, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Currently, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor.

The decedent’s name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The Monterey Park Police Department Traffic Bureau is investigating this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Traffic Investigator Castellano at 626-307-1238 or the Monterey Park Department Traffic Bureau at 626-307-1240.
