Pasadena City College is the “Official Community College Partner of Angel City FC”.

      By News Desk

Pasadena City College signed a sponsorship agreement with Angel City Football Club (ACFC), Los Angeles’ professional women’s soccer team. The agreement – which includes career training programs and student engagement – makes PCC the “Official Community College Partner of Angel City.”

The four-year agreement launches this spring. It will bring ACFC players and executives to PCC for women’s soccer matches, career development panels, and mentorship opportunities. It will also provide students with exposure to ACFC’s model of sports management to inspire future students at the college.

The agreement will also bring PCC’s degrees, programs, and services to Angel City fans at BMO Stadium, where the soccer club frequently sells out its 22,000-seat home pitch. Through pre-game fan fest participation as well as in-stadium advertising and other promotions, Angel City fans will gain knowledge about PCC’s leadership in the state in transfer degrees and degrees granted to minorities, as well as its extensive certificate and career-training programs. Parents will also be able to know more about dual and concurrent enrollment programs taking place in Pasadena.

PCC student ambassadors will also make up the first-ever Angel City Welcome Crew, welcoming fans as they enter BMO Stadium before all Angel City home matches.

“We are delighted to partner with Angel City Football Club. It is emerging as one of the most dynamic sports organizations in our region,” said Sandra Chen Lau, board president of the Pasadena Area Community College District. “We support the Club’s diverse leadership and athletes on and off the field.  They inspire our students, faculty, and community and remind us that dreams do come true.”

“This is not just an exciting opportunity to showcase all that PCC has to offer students and their families in Southern California, but also to introduce our students to a new way of doing business in professional sports,” said Erika Endrijonas, Ph.D., superintendent/president of Pasadena City College. “We’re thinking not only about the students of today, but those young girls and boys who will be going to college in a decade or more. It’s so inspiring to take a long-term view for what a sponsorship agreement can be.”

“We are excited to announce this partnership with Pasadena City College as our two organizations are totally in lockstep in terms of a shared set of values and passion for creating a different future,” said Julie Uhrman, Co-Founder and President, Angel City Football Club. “We look forward to working with the team to bring our knowledge and passion to current and future PCC students and faculty.”

ACFC’s Impact Partnership program directs 10 percent of all sponsorship revenues to community organizations. With PCC’s sponsorship, these funds will support a workforce development program operated with the Los Angeles LGBT Center, which provides mentorship to individuals entering the workforce. PCC is home to the Los Angeles Regional Consortium, a workforce and economic development program uniting Southern California’s 19 community colleges in a common effort to drive labor outcomes.

Angel City Football Club (ACFC), a member of the National Women’s Soccer League, is in its second season and calls BMO Stadium in downtown Los Angeles its home pitch.
