On Wednesday, March 15, at a regular Pasadena City College Board meeting, a “letter of concern” from approximately 38 members of the PCC Management Association (MA) was delivered to the Board of Trustees. Colorado Boulevard was the first to publish the story in a form of a Letter to the Editor titled “What Is Happening at PCC?“
By News Desk
On Thursday evening, March 23, our newsroom received the following response from PCC Board President, Sandra Chen Lau:
Last June, voters elected three new board members to the Pasadena Area Community College District Board of Directors, making the board the first minority-majority board in Pasadena City College’s history, and signaling a strong desire for change at the leadership level. The changes that voters demanded were more oversight, accountability, and transparency with decision making.
In response to the accusations made by the Management Association, the Board denies any discriminatory board actions being taken against any individual or group, and the Board is adhering to the highest ethical and moral standards guided by the law and expected from us by the voters and our communities. In this time of transition and change on the Board, the Board is committed to continuing open dialogue and communications with all stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, administration, and the public.
PCC is a beloved community asset with strong academic programs and solid accreditation, and the Board understands its obligation to the voters and taxpayers who are funding PCC to provide the best stewardship and governance.

Interesting coming from the President of the Board that according to public records has not completed ANY Board Trainings after being on the board for over 5 years. It is clear that she DOES NOT even know how to run a meeting much less govern the college as the Board President.
The new board (with 3 new trustees and Sandra as president) is SUCH a much-needed improvement over the old board–which never asked any questions or looked into anything but just said yes to whatever Endrijonas wanted. Sandra, thank you for helping to bring transparency and accountability to PCC’s board of trustees. You and the new trustees are giving many of us faculty hope that we hadn’t felt in years. You make such a difference, and we appreciate you! Please don’t let the haters get you down. <3
Finally someone that makes sense on this issue! The 78 managers and administrators in the Management Association should think about getting another president. His speech was full of baseless claims. It’s a college for God’s sake! Where’s the critical thinking and supporting your claims?
