Distant Lands’ physical location store will close its doors on Friday, Dec. 29, 2018.

Owner Adrian Kalvinskas announced the store will remain open as an online shop. The in-house travel agency, run by co-owner and travel agent Susan Hickman, will continue through the website as well. (Susan can be reached here).
The last remaining open days for the physical store will be:
- Thursday, 12/27: Open 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
- Friday, 12/28: Open 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Distant Lands, touted on its website as Pasadena Weekly’s “Readers Recommended Bookstore” in 2017, started in 1989 as a niche place serving the needs of travelers. The store’s bricks and mortar closure follows the fate of other stores that closed in the area this year, despite being voted as “Reader Recommended” in Best of Pasadena list by the weekly Pasadena publication.
