The City of Pasadena, in collaboration with the Rose Bowl Operating Company (RBOC), has launched the Brookside Golf Course Cantilever Netting Project, aimed at improving pedestrian and cyclist safety along key sections of the golf course perimeter.

Construction began on October 20, 2025, with crews mobilizing on the east side of the course along Rosemont Avenue. Work will progress northward and is expected to continue through January 2026. The project follows a successful pilot installation completed in 2023 at the intersection of West Drive and Salvia Canyon.
The new project will install approximately 2,600 linear feet of protective netting at 25 locations along West Drive and Rosemont Avenue, helping to safeguard pedestrians and cyclists without obstructing views or harming the area’s natural surroundings. The protective netting will also help preserve trees within the Arroyo Seco, ensuring that the area’s beauty is maintained.
“This project is a significant step in enhancing safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists who frequently use these routes,” said Greg de Vinck, Director of Public Works. “By expanding upon the successful pilot project, we’re addressing community needs and furthering our commitment to public safety while maintaining the aesthetics of the Arroyo Seco.”
The project, funded through a $1.95 million investment shared between the City of Pasadena and RBOC, will be managed by Judge Netting, Inc. During construction, temporary traffic control measures will be implemented to minimize disruptions. Public Works has coordinated the construction schedule to avoid conflicts with major events at the Rose Bowl Stadium, ensuring that traffic flow is managed during peak times.
In total, the project is expected to be completed by the end of January 2026. City officials are hopeful that the expanded netting will help protect visitors to the area, including those attending events at the Rose Bowl, and provide a safer environment for outdoor recreation.
