The California Department of Education has released the 2022-2023 state test scores.

The percentage of Pasadena Unified students who met the standards rose slightly in both English and Math, by 0.16% in English and by 1.12% in Math. The increase in English proficiency was in contrast to the statewide and L.A. County results which both saw decreases in English proficiency. In Math, PUSD’s increase was in line with the statewide and L.A. County increases which were 1.24% and 1.64%, respectively.
English
Nine of the thirteen K-5 schools showed increases in English proficiency compared to last year. The median increase for a school across these thirteen schools was 3.44%. The highest increase was at Webster Elementary which saw an increase of 8.9% in English proficiency.
Among the three PUSD standalone middle schools, two showed increases. The median change for a school across these three schools was an increase of 1.04%. Among the six PUSD schools that include grades 6-12 and 9-12, four showed increases in English proficiency. The median increase for a school across these six schools was 1.73%. The highest increase was at CIS Academy which saw an increase of 8.1% in English proficiency.
Math
Eight of the thirteen K-5 schools showed increases in Math proficiency compared to last year. The median increase for a school across these thirteen schools was 3.25%. The highest increase was at Altadena Elementary which saw an increase of 9.8% in Math proficiency.
All three PUSD standalone middle schools showed increases. The median increase for a school across these three schools was 1.54%. Among the six PUSD schools that include grades 6-12 and 9-12, two schools showed increases in Math proficiency. The median change for a school across these six schools was a decrease of 0.36%. The highest increase was at Pasadena High School which saw an increase of 2.4% in Math proficiency.
