On January 26, the Pasadena Unified School District and the California School Employees Association (CSEA) Bargaining Teams met for the third bargaining session of the 2023-2024 school year.

On December 15, 2023, the Pasadena Unified School District committed to providing a total financial package on salary equal to 10% increase for CSEA members. The District communicated its final offer, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to provide competitive salaries to staff while remaining fiscally solvent and responsible. The financial package offered represents an increase of 20% over two years on salary (not including benefits increases).
At this week’s bargaining session, the District again reiterated this commitment to CSEA, providing the salary proposal below:
District Counter-Proposal #2 for Article XVII
Total Financial Package: 10% on salary schedule increase = $2,691,430 1.68% increase to health and welfare benefits = $452,628 ongoing expenditure.
The Employees Association provided additional counters on salary and longevity: added costs for longevity equaling $250,473, which is equivalent to an additional 0.93% increase on salary.
Negotiations concluded at 12:02 p.m., with the commitment to reconvene on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
CSEA and PUSD have reached tentative agreement on the following articles and agreements:
- Greater clarity on health and welfare employee contributions and fringe benefits (Article XXIV).
- Calendar adjustments for Children’s Services Assistant II staff to ensure appropriate staffing when students are present as well as to provide opportunities for staff to attend classified staff development days (Articles X and XII).
- Revisions to notification requirements for staff when changes in assignments are necessary (Article X).
