Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) announced that Open Enrollment for the 2025-26 school year begins on January 8, 2025, with the first lottery application period for district residents and employees of the City of Pasadena and PUSD.

      By News Desk

Subsequent application lotteries continue throughout the spring (See Dates).

This is a unique opportunity for families to explore and choose from a wide variety of educational programs and schools within the district for children from preschool through 12th grade.

Whether you’re looking for a program that focuses on arts education, STEM, college and career pathways, or magnet programs, PUSD offers something for every learner. From dynamic neighborhood schools to innovative academics, students have the freedom to thrive in campus environments that best match their talents, interests, and goals.

Dr. Elizabeth Blanco, Superintendent of PUSD, said:

Our schools are filled with dedicated teachers, creative programs, and a welcoming atmosphere that supports every student’s growth. Open Enrollment is about giving families the power of choice and helping them find the perfect fit for their child’s education. The future truly starts here.”

      PUSD’s diverse offerings include:

      • Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
Available at every elementary school in the district, providing an excellent early educational foundation for younger learners. Children who turn four on or before September 1, 2025, are eligible.
All families interested in enrolling their child in TK must complete an Open Enrollment application, even if they select their assigned neighborhood school.
