      Marshall Fundamental School announces Sarah Williams, class of 2019, as one of 686 students in the nation to receive the 2020 YoungArts Award for Excellence in Visual Literary and Performing Arts.

      The award which is given annually recognizes artists across ten disciplines and are adjudicated by a panel of professionals.  Each year, The US Presidential Scholars in Arts program awards over $500,000 in scholarships to deserving students like Sarah.

      Sarah is a Marshall Fundamental Class of 2019 Alumni graduating as a member of the Academy for Creative Industries (ACI) in Performing Arts.  She worked over 250 learning hours which included an internship at the Ghetto Film School where she worked with industry professionals to hone her film making skills. During her time in ACI she helped establish the Thespian Society and directed a revival of The Wizard of Marshall. She was a cast member in Marshall’s productions of Peter Pan, Grease, Steel Magnolias and Peter and The Starcatcher.

      Ms. Williams academic achievements include being a member of the National Honor Society and a recipient of the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma. She graduated with a 4.5 grade point average and received the prestigious AP Capstone Diploma.

      Sarah currently attends New York University Tisch School of the Arts where she majors in Film/TV Production. Please join the Marshall community and the Pasadena Unified School District in congratulating Sarah on earning this prestigious award.

      Lanisha Kelly is a Marshall Fundamental Assistant Principal & Administrator for Academy for Creative Industry.
