The pop-up event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Children and Teen Services area of the Jefferson Branch Library, 1500 E. Villa St.
Community members will be able to review a refined above-ground park design that incorporates feedback gathered during previous outreach efforts. Residents are also invited to share additional input and meet with members of the project team.
Project partner Amigos de los Ríos will lead youth-focused educational activities highlighting sustainability, watershed connections, and native ecology.
The outreach effort is supported by a $191,180 Public Education and Community Engagement grant awarded to the City in June 2025 through Los Angeles County’s Safe, Clean Water Program. The voter-approved funding supports a comprehensive community engagement plan accompanying the feasibility study and is intended to ensure residents play a central role in shaping the project’s vision and design.
The Jefferson Park Stormwater Capture Project Feasibility Study is evaluating both underground stormwater capture infrastructure and potential above-ground park improvements. The study explores strategies to improve stormwater runoff management and meet water quality compliance goals while considering enhancements such as new recreation areas and play structures, outdoor classrooms, expanded urban greening, and other park amenities.
The July 15 event marks the final opportunity for residents to participate in the planning process before the feasibility study is completed. Throughout the study, the City has conducted a series of bilingual outreach efforts, including park pop-up events, stakeholder meetings, community surveys, and partnerships with local organizations to encourage broad public participation.
