The City of Pasadena Youth Ambassador Program gives high school students ages 14–18 the chance to gain hands-on experience through city events, community programs, and partnerships with local organizations. For many young people facing the common challenge of limited work experience, the program serves as a meaningful first step into the professional world. Students who attend a Pasadena high school are eligible to apply, and families can learn more by visiting the program’s application page.
Training Opportunities
Participants receive training in personal development, college preparation, scholarship applications, financial aid, communication, and job readiness. These sessions are designed to help students build confidence and prepare for future academic and professional goals. Teens interested in these skill-building opportunities can explore more about training options.
Opportunities After High School
Graduating seniors can continue their involvement through a leadership role known as Ambassador Lead, available until their 24th birthday. Under the supervision of the program manager, Ambassador Leads help oversee activities and support younger Ambassadors as they carry out their duties. Those curious about post‑graduation roles can read more about Ambassador Lead positions.
Program Sponsors
The program partners with a wide range of local organizations, including Pasadena Heritage, Pasadena Unified School District, American Cancer Society, South Lake Avenue Business District, Rose Bowl, The Playhouse District, Clazzical Notes, Flintridge Center, Senator Carol Liu, Pasadena Marathon, Day One, Garfield Heights Neighborhood Association, Ronald McDonald House, Ability First, Collective Voices Foundation, Cultural Affairs Division, PBMEA, PMA, and other nonprofit groups across the city. These partnerships help Ambassadors gain exposure to community organizations and civic engagement. A full list of collaborators can be found under program sponsors.
An excellent chance to gain leadership skills and insight into community organizations, the Pasadena Youth Ambassador Program continues to serve as a valuable stepping stone for young people preparing to enter the wider world.
