Samantha Flores Ramirez, a 16-year-old visual artist from Pasadena, has been selected to attend the renowned Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan this summer. A student at the LA County High School for the Arts (LACHSA), Flores will study Animation and Filmmaking at the nation’s premier summer arts program for young artists.

Originally from Cholula, Puebla, Mexico, Samantha has used art as a powerful tool for expression since childhood. At age 13, she joined Las Fotos Project, and her work has since been published in SALIMA, a magazine from the Feminist Center for Creative Work. At LACHSA, she was recently inducted into the National Honor Society and earned the Spirit Award for the second consecutive year.
In addition to her artistic pursuits, Samantha is deeply involved in community-based advocacy and creativity. She supports youth engagement efforts with organizations like LA Más and Los Angeles Walks, and serves on the creative team at Mosaic, a local church community.
Samantha will join young artists from around the world at Interlochen’s 1,200-acre wooded campus, where students participate in immersive training across music, theatre, dance, visual arts, creative writing, and film.

Founded in 1928, Interlochen boasts a distinguished alumni community that includes artists like Norah Jones, Josh Groban, and Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Mary Oliver.
